After making an excellent catch off Jasprit Bumrah bowling, Marco Jansen (11 off 9) became Jasprit Bumrah second victim. To complete his fifer, he also got Keshav Maharaj caught at gully, sending South Africa reeling at 111/7 with a 13-run lead. Aiden Markram changed course fast and hit his seventh Test century after seeing wickets fall at the other end.
On the second day of the second Test between Team India and South Africa in Cape Town, they had an outstanding morning as they bowled them out for 176 in the second innings. With a career-high nine-wicket haul and a score of 6/61, India’s speedster Jasprit Bumrah stole the show.
After Jasprit Bumrah struck in the opening over of the inning, catching David Bedingham behind, South Africa started their innings at 62/3, trailing India by 36 runs. The 30-year-old dismissed Kyle Verreynne (9 off 7) after the wicketkeeper batsman skied one straight to Mohammed Siraj at mid-on.
When KL Rahul dropped the first batter against Jasprit Bumrah on 73, the opener even received a reprieve. Markram took full advantage of the opportunity to frustrate India by scoring the fourth-fastest century by a South African in Test cricket, reaching the milestone in 99 balls. Finally, Rohit Sharma, the skipper, caught him mid-off after he was removed for 106 (103) top-edging one against Mohammed Siraj.
Picking his second straight fifer in Cape Town, Jasprit Bumrah
Kagiso Rabada smashed a straight shot to mid-off in the very next ball, giving Prasidh Krishna his maiden wicket of the innings. Lungi Ngidi was dismissed at slips by Jasprit Bumrah, who came back into the attack and claimed the last wicket of the innings. Consequently, South Africa was bowled out for 176, giving India a victory target of 78 runs.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah recorded his third six-fer in his Test career and his second straight fifer in Cape Town. Amidst this, there was a flurry of activity over yet another amazing performance by the Indian speedster. Listed below are a few posts:
