After a match-winning performance against India, Alyssa Healy praises Kim Garth, saying, “She loves these conditions.”

The captain of Australia, Alyssa Healy, showered her colleague, Kim Garth, with accolades after her game-winning effort in the second Twenty20 international against India on January 7 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Garth helped Australia win the match by six wickets to tie the series at one with his outstanding final statistics of 2/27. The player of the match went to be the right-arm bowler.

After joining the Women’s Premier League late, Garth made an impression with a five-for in Navi Mumbai. She had previously played for the Gujarat Giants. At the same stadium, the 27-year-old made an immediate impression after replacing Darcie Brown in Australia’s lineup. Healy said the seamer enjoys these conditions.

“Kim Garth loves these conditions; I’ve seen her take a five-fa in the WPL here. We basically changed that based on instinct, and we’ll have to wait a few days to see the lineup,” Alyssa Healy said to reporters following the match.

“It’s always an honour to get the chance to represent Australia on the playing field. We were happy to even the series heading into the final game, but more significantly, we were happy to take a few wickets. I wanted to learn as much as I could from the circumstances here at DY because we played here a lot in the WPL, Garth stated.

The short outfield, quick outfield, and flat wickets make it difficult to bowl here sometimes, but I learned that all I really need to do is attempt to keep the stumps in play as much as possible. When things don’t go your way, you should also have a backup plan and a contingency plan. Hence, I’ve made every effort to draw lessons from past encounters and apply them to the current tour whenever the chance arises.

“The conditions tonight were bowler-friendly… As you may know, I like to pitch the ball high, stand the seam up, and let the ball speak for itself. Fortunately, I was able to get some movement, both with the swing and back in off the seam. I’m just trying to set aggressive fields, be good and attacking, and keep the stumps in play, and fortunately for me, tonight it worked out,” the 27-year-old continued.
