For the next IPL 2024, two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders broke the bank by signing Mitchell Starc for a whopping INR 24.75 crore. With Pat Cummins just behind him, he is presently the highest-paid cricket player in the competition’s history. The Australian captain is now the second-highest earner in the competition after Sunrisers Hyderabad paid INR 20.50 crore to recruit him.
In light of that, former cricket player Chris Morris said that the pace combo will undoubtedly face pressure from the money, but he also noted that they can manage it. The bidding is out of control, he continued, but it’s great because both cricket players are in “red hot form.”
However, Cummins and Mitchell Starc can withstand that strain, which is why their high price was paid for them.
“It’s really good. It is not within our control to bid. It’s fantastic that the highest-paid cricket players in the world receive compensation when compared to other sports. Why not practice more pitches that are tailored to you and your individual performances? I would have gladly watched more cricket matches and competitions. Although someone has to lose in cricket, I would have loved to see Dean Elgar finish the match victorious,” Morris continued.
