In the just ended series, the Men in Blue gave a number of guys a chance, but head coach Rahul Dravid says there are still certain spots that need to be filled. India’s penultimate T20I match before the T20 World Cup, which is set to start on June 1, was the series against Afghanistan, which provided them with their last opportunity to try new things.
The former cricket player stated that selections for the next Indian Premier League will be determined on the basis on how well the players perform in the competition. The players will be closely watched. He thinks the squad needs to change in some ways, and they are considering the same thing.
After the most recent ODI World Cup, we had a change of players for a number of reasons. However, I think it’s good to see that certain candidates have raised their hands and demonstrated their ability to handle the situation (before to the World Cup). In his press conference following the game, Dravid stated, “We were thinking about some areas we might need to address.”
Sadly, as a team we actually won’t be playing much cricket anymore. Naturally, everyone will be keenly watching the Indian Premier League to see how some of those men perform and to determine which places we need to fill on the team,” he continued.
Shivam Dube has undoubtedly become a lot better player since returning: Rahul Dravid
Shivam Dube’s performance in the T20I series against Afghanistan has also much impressed Dravid. In the first and second Twenty20 Internationals, the explosive batsman scored consecutive half-centuries, which also helped him earn Player of the Series. Regarding the all-rounder, Dravid stated that after rejoining the team, he has become a far better player.
He has returned after an extended absence. He’s definitely become a lot better player since returning. He has always had potential, no question about it, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well he did in the series. He’ll get a lot of confidence from it, too, I’m sure. You return and play a series, making yourself the protagonist. It’s fantastic and he’s definitely raised his hand,” Dravid remarked.
