In the second Test of the current series, star Indian batsman Shubman Gill gave an incredible performance against England. After a string of bad performances, the 24-year-old was the target of intense criticism. But Gill showed his class again, making 104 runs off of 147 deliveries. Gill was instrumental in helping India set a 399-run goal for England to chase.
His lackluster performance even caused his spot on the test team to be overlooked. After 12 innings without scoring more than fifty runs, Shubman Gill eventually reached his century after struggling at the plate. He celebrated quietly, appearing more relieved than ecstatic about reaching his century.
Speaking on the subject, Shubman Gill stated that he was taking his innings one ball at a time and that he believed the work was not yet complete, which was the cause of the subdued celebration.
I believed that work needed to be done. It was a low-key celebration because of this. I was taking each ball one at a time, and there was obviously a lot going on around the wicket, including a few wickets. Afterward, Shreyas and I formed a solid partnership and chose to alternate strikes, whether the ball was there to be hit or to keep attempting to rotate it, Gill told the media.

In addition, Shubman Gill expressed his opinion that receiving assistance from head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma was crucial to him regaining his form and scoring his third Test century.
“The batting coach, along with Rohit bhai and Dravid sir, have provided me with incredible support. That has consistently kept me inspired,” Gill remarked.
With the intention of winning the second Test by chasing a goal of 399 runs, England lost Ben Duckett early in the run chase and ended up at 67 for 1 at stumps on Day 3.
