The selector for Australia’s national squad, George Bailey, discussed Cameron Green‘s chances for the eagerly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup, which will start in June in the United States and the West Indies.
He said that Green might be able to get a spot in the team thanks to the impending Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, in order to prepare for Tests, Australia’s premier all-rounder was left off the roster for their two-match T20I series against the West Indies and New Zealand. In late March, the 24-year-old will become a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team.

George Bailey continued, “The management is optimistic that Green can present the opposition with a formidable challenge in any format.” Before the World Cup in 2022, the 24-year-old won a berth at the top of Australia’s T20I team by hitting two swift half-centuries against India. He had a dismal 2023 campaign in all formats, which ultimately cost him his spot at the conclusion of the Ashes. After David Warner’s retirement, he returned to the Test team in a new capacity at No. 4.
There is an incredible skill set present in all three formats. We have a great deal of confidence that if we keep exposing him to more, he will improve and gain greater insight into his game. However, just as with any player, I don’t think it will be a straight line; there will always be variations. I guess that his last two years have been quite the roller coaster at different moments. He has essentially been on team travel nonstop. All those players do face that problem, although I suppose it can be difficult when you are younger and first encounter it.
