In 2014, a South African team won the first World Cup ever. South Africa won the U19 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates as the Proteas overcame Pakistan under the leadership of a teenage Aiden Markram.
Aiden Markram is still the best in the world ten years after winning the U19 World Cup. Markram, who is 23 years old, is the second-youngest captain in South Africa’s history of leading the men’s national team.
In addition, Markram further demonstrated his leadership abilities by leading SA20 team Sunrisers Eastern Cape to consecutive finals; he was also named Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Former Proteas pacer Dale Steyn recently spoke out, praising Aiden Markram greatly and designating him as the man who will lead South Africa in all formats going forward.
“There are a ton of guys that can be captains for South Africa, so choosing one is a major challenge for them. However, if we’re talking particularly about Aiden, I can help him a lot because I’m a member of his coaching staff. It has been amazing to see him go about his business in SA20. Dale Steyn told News18 Cricket Next, “The way he’s rallied everybody, the way he’s got everybody together, the chats that he does on the field, the chats that he does in the dressing room, have been pretty amazing.”

Dale Steyn also emphasized how Markram has demonstrated his leadership qualities by interacting well with local players in the IPL, even if the Proteas star may face linguistic barriers.
“I saw Markram play in the IPL last year. I felt it was excellent. Additionally, gaining the support of the local players in the IPL is a difficult task. One issue with many local players is their poor English language skills. Furthermore, occasionally they are not as good at picking up accents. Therefore, in order for everyone to hear you when you speak as a foreign captain, you virtually have to speak a little bit louder, slower, and more pronounced, according to Steyn.
