The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) will honor seasoned Indian stars Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara for their contributions to the nation and state. Before the third Test of the current five-match series between India and England begins in Rajkot on February 15, the two will be honored.
Cheteshwar Pujara is no longer part of the red-ball setup, but Jadeja is an important member of the Indian Test team.
Cheteshwar Pujara is expected to be called up in the interim due to his outstanding Ranji Trophy performance.
Subject to fitness, Jadeja—who was hurt and missed the second Test at Vishakapatnam—is anticipated to rejoin the team. In Test cricket, the star player is presently regarded as the best all-around player.
News18 cited SCA President Jaydev Shah as saying, “We will be felicitating both Pujara and Ravindra during the function for the new name of the stadium.”
Pujara’s decision to not participate is left to the team administration and selectors, so I can’t speak much about it, but we would have been thrilled if he had been present. We would have been more proud if he had played, not that we aren’t proud now. Few people in India have managed to play as many Test matches as he has. Although it is a part of the game, it would have been amazing to have him play at Rajkot. Not everything you wish for comes true. He has put in a lot of effort at work. Jaydev continued, “He made Saurashtra very proud.
“Saurashtra is still very proud of Ravindra. I’ve heard that Ravindra is hurt. I’m not very sure about that, but I think he’ll come for the event. I really hope so. As the greatest Test all-rounder in the world, we will also be congratulating him,” Jaydev said in closing.
England Test remaining without Kohli
For personal reasons, Virat Kohli, who withdrew from the first two Test matches against England, will miss the rest of the series. In the meantime, the roster now includes KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, who were both injured during the Vizag Test. They must, however, have a clearance for fitness before they may participate.
India’s team to play England in the final three Test matches:
Squad: R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja*, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, KL Rahul*, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Jasprit Bumrah (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill,
