The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will launch its ninth edition on February 17. A few franchises are having trouble finding international players as Pakistan’s top franchise competition approaches quickly.
Due to various obligations, a number of the international players for the Karachi Kings are unavailable. Jamie Overton, for example, will not be participating in the competition since he is getting ready to represent Surrey in the County Championship, which begins on April 5. Due to other domestic T20 obligations, Shamsi, on the other hand, will withdraw from the tournament on March 6th. After participating in six games for the Kings, Shamsi will miss the second half of the competition.
Rassie van der Dussen of Lahore Qalandars will also miss the later stages of the competition since he has to return home on March 6 per Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) policy. Furthermore, after suffering a slight injury during the just ended SA20 2024, famous England pacer Reece Topley will miss out since the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) withdrew his NOC (No Objection Certificate). Topley had been assigned to play for the Multan Sultans in the competition.
The Lahore Qalandars want to win it all again.
Defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United will square off in the season opener of the major competition on Saturday, February 17 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. After overwhelming the Multan Sultans in the summit match, Qalandars advanced to the finals of the PSL in 2023, winning the competition in a resounding fashion. After winning nine out of ten games throughout the group stages, the team took first place in the standings in 2023.
