It was enjoyable to reflect on Ravindra Jadeja’s heroics with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2023 final when he made a joke about possibly being the first person MS Dhoni carried after his wife Sakshi Dhoni. After making the winning runs against the Gujarat Titans, the all-round player thought back on Dhoni’s joyous boost.
After GT scored a strong total of 214/4 in the IPL final, rain delays and the use of the DLS technique forced them to reset their target to 171 runs in 15 overs. It was an exciting ride. Mohit Sharma’s final over was needed to score 13 runs for CSK. Against the fifth ball, Jadeja hit a six-over long-on. When he hit the winning boundary with the last ball and ran all over the stadium, Dhoni, who was at CSK’s dugout, carried Jadeja in celebration.

At a recent CSK promotional event, Jadeja made the amusing remark, “I think I’m the only guy Mahi bhai lifted after Sakshi bhabhi.”
“And in this situation also, you know, I was quite confident that, you know, Jaddu has the talent and mindset to achieve the target,” Dhoni said, showing his admiration for Jadeja’s game-winning six-ball 15* in the final. However, once more, there is no guarantee that this will occur. What a remarkable inning it was. The couple sixes he hit prior to the final ball are well known to you. Those seemed really challenging to me.”

“I know how difficult it is to get that kind of elevation and win it for six,” the former captain of CSK continued, “but looking at the TV, it looks easy.” Everyone is also under strain at the same moment. Both the opposition and ourselves desire victory. Everyone has a demanding job. I’m very happy that we prevailed. And the feelings ran quite high. Thus, Jaddu deserves a hearty round of appreciation for the way he batted.”
CSk has won five titles under MS, and 2024 might be his last year participating in the competition. Just one day before the 17th IPL season got underway, Dhoni gave up his captaincy and gave it to rookie Ruturaj Gaikwad. With two wins in a row and a commanding lead in the points table, the reigning champions have launched their campaign with gusto under Gaikwad.
