In Match 30 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH) are about to square off. SRH was requested to bat first after home captain Faf du Plessis won the toss. RCB made a few alterations to their starting lineup going into the match after suffering four straight losses.
Glenn Maxwell, the team’s star batsman, has had a terrible season thus far; thus, the RCB management chose to rest him. The all-around player has only amassed 32 runs in six innings. With four wickets from four innings at an average of 19 and an economy of 8.44, he is tied for second place on his team in terms of wicket-taking with the ball.
Saurav Chauhan, a 23-year-old rookie who has scored 18 runs in two games this season, has taken Maxwell’s place. In addition to benching their star seamer, Mohammed Siraj, the RCB made another significant move.
The 30-year-old’s season has also been forgettable, with him taking just four wickets at an economy of 10.40 and an average of 57.25 from six games. Lockie Ferguson, a Kiwi, will be starting his first match of the season in his place. In addition, the RCB management benched seamer Akash Deep from their previous game against the Mumbai Indians (MI), who let up 55 runs in 3.3 overs, and replaced him with Yash Dayal.
Dayal had a strong start to the season against the Punjab Kings, recording numbers of 1 in 23. However, he was costly in the other games. The 26-year-old has taken five wickets at an average of 31.60 and an economy of 8.31 from five games this season.
Following back-to-back victories over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), SRH entered the match without altering their starting lineup.
