Instead of being a contest between batsmen, RCB vs. SRH was decided by who hit more sixes: Aaron Finch

"SRH were getting lucky in the first powerplay and they needed those to be sixes and Travis Head was the difference there," Finch said.

Instead of being a contest between batsmen, RCB vs. SRH was decided by who hit more sixes: Aaron Finch

Over 500 runs (combined) were scored in the RCB vs. SRH match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, making it a run-fest. Speaking first, Aaron Finch said that the winner was the one who hit more sixes rather than the batter.

Aaron Finch talked exclusively about the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting plan on Star Sports Cricket Live. “They had to begin at age 14. And it increases to 16 if you have one terrible over. Because of this, the game was never intended to be about batsmanship; instead, the focus was on who could hit the most sixes, and that made a difference.

They were getting lucky during the first powerplay, and they needed those to be sixes. Travis Head made a big difference in that situation by starting the ball rolling and then making the gutsy decision to keep Klaasen at number three, stating that they needed to keep going because they had a strong batting lineup and would be punishing the bowlers.

Let’s keep Klaasen back because organisations frequently believe he has a lot of back-end power. Sometimes you don’t want to expose someone like Glenn Maxwell because if he gets out, we’ll have to start over. Teams no longer think that way; Dan Vettori has discussed the need to play aggressively and boldly and to accept responsibility for the results if things don’t work out. You win if everything works out.

Aaron Finch talked about how important Dinesh Karthik is to the group.

“You don’t lose that batting ability once you’ve accumulated 20, 25 years of experience and have hit a significant number of balls since you were five years old.” Therefore, I believe it benefits them since they train, especially for the role they play on their team. They basically train specifically, and that should serve as a lesson to players everywhere—that you have to be extremely specific with your preparation and approach—instead of overtraining, trying to get better at what they do, or trying to improvise.

You can hit as many balls as you like, but no matter how good you are, if you approach the middle of the field with a foggy head or are not feeling well, you will struggle.”

Varun Aaron said, “That was a good ball,” when asked about the significance of Virat Kohli’s wicket during the SRH vs. RCB game. Ideal length and line. That is the ideal location for a googly pitch. For some time now, Virat has been having trouble with Google. Though it’s rarely a major issue, he occasionally gets into problems with Google. And it was just such a night today. Furthermore, you actually cannot assign all tasks to one individual. The onus is on the other Indian hitters to contribute. The other well-known players, the big batsmen, need to contribute. Not every game can be handled by one batsman.”

“They definitely had to put that kind of intent and take that approach as they were chasing 287 runs,” former Indian cricketer Mithali Raj said when discussing Virat Kohli and RCB’s intentions during the chase against SRH. Additionally, the two openers indicated their willingness to score runs from the very first ball. Many of the shots were mistimed, but crucially, they still resulted in runs. With only two to three runs separating them at the end of the power play, SRH and RCB were essentially tied. That demonstrates that they were pursuing the target.
