In the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to start on June 2, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has stated that Ravindra Jadeja is unfit to be India’s No. 7 hitter. Jadeja was chosen by Moody to start over Axar Patel in the ideal Indian lineup, but he also felt that the team needed a batsman with a higher strike rate than Jadeja.
“I wouldn’t take Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja together. If I had to choose only one left-arm spinning option, I would choose Jadeja. In the nation, he is the greatest left-arm spinner. His batting average is not seven in my eleven. In my opinion, he is not skilled enough to bat seventh for a World Cup team. With his strike rate, he has demonstrated that. In the Star Sports Press Room, Moody stated, “You need an impact player batting at seven.”

Ravindra Jadeja will be given priority: K Srikanth
In addition, veteran Indian cricketer K Srikanth expressed his opinion at the same discussion that the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) ought to include both Axar Patel and Jadeja in their team for the T20 World Cup. Compared to Axar, he believes Jadeja has a greater chance of cracking the starting lineup.
“While Axar will also be in the 15, Jadeja will be in the 11. You must recognise that Axar has the ability to win matches as well. Axar is an excellent fielder, bowler, and batsman. However, due to his extensive experience, his past performance in international cricket, and his status as a key match performer, Srikanth declared that Jadeja would be the first pick at number seven.
