Shreyas Iyer reflects on what motivates him to continue playing on the field: “There are butterflies in your stomach.”

In the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the two-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are thriving under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. The Kolkata Knight Riders are in second place in the rankings with five victories and three defeats, and they have a good chance of making the IPL playoffs.

On Monday, April 29, the 47th game of the competition, the Kolkata Knight Riders will play their next matchup against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Shreyas Iyer, the captain of KKR, discussed his motivation for playing ahead of the highly anticipated match.

“There are butterflies in your stomach when you are on the other side of the line, as I have mentioned numerous times before. In a Star Sports video, Shreyas Iyer stated, “You always consider the crowd and the situation as to what will happen.”

“As soon as you walk in, I become blank. You can see and hear the audience cheering, but you are still in your zone.” Since everything is going well while you’re in that zone, nothing else really matters. However, when you smash a six or a four and the audience begins cheering, especially if the batsman is playing beautifully, it gives you a lot of energy that I really enjoy. Additionally, when the throng whispers your name,” Iyer said.

In the race for a postseason berth, Kolkata Knight Riders

Speaking about KKR, the two-time winners are still fighting for a position in the IPL 2024 knockout stages. KKR is ranked second in the rankings with 10 points after five victories.

The team will look to improve going into their next matchup against Delhi Capitals. Last time out, KKR fell to Punjab Kings despite scoring 261 runs in the first innings. They gave up 262 runs in the second innings and lost the match.
