The previous star all-around player for India, Yuvraj Singh, has heaped accolades on Virat Kohli, the batting master, labelling him the “best batter of this generation” across all formats. Kohli cemented his status as one of cricket’s greatest players with his outstanding performance at the ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, when he broke the record for most runs scored. Coming up soon is the T20 World Cup, and 35-year-old Kohli is excited to add another achievement to his resume.
Yuvraj emphasized Kohli’s merit for a World Cup medal, particularly in light of his outstanding performance in India’s winning effort in the 2011 tournament.
He has undoubtedly shattered every record set in our modern period. In my opinion, this generation’s best batter across the board. He also seems like someone who needs a World Cup medal, in my opinion. He is in possession of one. He’s definitely not content with one. In a conversation with the ICC, Yuvraj stated, “I think he definitely deserves that medal as well.”

Kohli’s path through the T20 World Cup has been filled with memorable moments, most notably his amazing strike against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground two years ago. Kohli’s unbeaten 82 off just 53 balls during a nerve-wracking 160-run chase left a lasting effect on almost 90,000 onlookers.
Yuvraj emphasized Virat Kohli’s keen sense of the game and capacity to perform well under duress when he looked back on his skills.
He truly seems to know his game, in my opinion. He has proven on several significant occasions—including against Australia in Mohali—that if he stays in the game till the very end, he will win it for India. After gaining the will to pursue and understanding the circumstances, Yuvraj stated that he was able to bat in these circumstances, choose which bowlers to attack, which bowlers to take singles off, know when to attack again, handle pressure, and know when to alter his approach.
With 542 runs at an average of 67.75 and a strike rate of 148.08 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kohli is the league’s top run scorer. He is continuing to dominate the competition. Yuvraj claims that his intense training regimen demonstrates his commitment to greatness, which sets him apart.
“He wouldn’t just go out and slog balls in the nets or during practice, which is why I believe he was so excellent. He would always bat in the nets as though he were in a game. Repetition after repetition after repetition is what he did. I haven’t observed that in a lot of guys. I believe that to be the secret to his success,” Yuvraj continued.
Virat Kohli’s position as the anchor of the batting order is still crucial as India prepares for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the roster, excitement is running high as India gets ready to play their first match against Pakistan on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
