In the Indian Premier League (IPL) of 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are carrying on with their incredible streak. By defeating the Mumbai Indians by eighteen runs, they were the first team to earn a postseason spot. They now lead the points table with eighteen points, and with two games remaining, they will be looking to place in the top two.
MI had to chase down a 158 target in 16 overs in a rain-affected match. Although they had a strong powerplay, their hitters were unable to maintain the momentum. The bowlers from KKR continued to harass their opponents and notch up wickets. Mumbai is now ranked ninth in the points standings and has already qualified out of the competition.

The spin magician was greeted with a 13-run over even though Sunil Narine was summoned into the powerplay. Even though Rohit got off to a poor start, his aggressive play helped MI score 62 runs in a Powerplay, which was a fantastic effort. There was also a strategic pause by the participants.

MI’s 65/1 in 6.5 overs was the first wicket.
After the powerplay, Narine kept attacking and was able to eliminate the dangerous Ishan Kishan. The fielder at mid-wicket made an easy catch after the southpaw attempted a slogsweep but mistimed it. Kishan’s lightning-fast 22-ball 40 came to an end.

Mumbai Indians scored 88/3 in 11 overs during the second strategic timeout (Hardik Pandya 1* off 1, Tilak Varma 9* off 6).
In the eighth over, Varun Chakaravarthy finally put an end to Rohit Sharma’s slow innings of 19 runs off of 24 balls, as he was clearly lost against spin. MI lost their first two openers in rapid succession, forcing Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav to enter the batter’s box.
Despite his previous good form, Suryakumar was unable to display his batting prowess this time. The pivotal moment for KKR came from Andre Russell. The players of both teams separated for a calculated break, with the equation demanding 70 runs in the final five overs.

100 runs in 13 overs for the Mumbai Indians
MI’s scoring percentage fell sharply following the firing of Ishan Kishan. The needed rate exceeded 14, and the bowlers for the Kolkata Knight Riders were able to take wickets consistently. MI lost half of their side as they reached the 100-run threshold in the last ball of the 13th over.
Mumbai Indians finished the game at 139/8 in 16 overs.
KKR survived a late scare thanks to some huge strikes from Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir. But the five-time champs were unable to cross the finish line with that alone. Harshit Rana bowled a magnificent last over, preventing 22 runs and taking two vital wickets. With just three runs given up, he contributed to KKR’s 18-run victory.
