Harmanpreet Kaur is optimistic about India's prospects at the 2024 T20 World Cup, saying, "We should do well."

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur thinks her squad is improving at the ideal moment and has what it takes to place among the top four teams at the major competition. The Indian women’s cricket squad is feeling quite confident ahead of the October 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

The ninth T20 World Cup will take place from October 3–20. India has been placed in a competitive Group A with six-time champion Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In spite of the difficult group, the Indian captain is optimistic about her team’s future.

“South Africa, India, Australia, and England. Harmanpreet told ICC that “all these teams have been playing well, and hopefully these four can make it to the semifinals so we can have very good cricket over there.”

We ought to succeed: Harmanpreet Kaur

Over the past year, India has gained invaluable experience playing in Bangladesh. In a T20I series in Sylhet, they just finished with a 5-0 rout, which helped them become used to the circumstances they’ll encounter at the World Cup.

“Yeah, it’s a bit similar to India and hopefully, in these conditions, we should do well,” Harmanpreet Kaur said.

India’s toughest opponent might be the reigning champions Australia, who had defeated them in recent important competitions including the Commonwealth Games final in 2022 and the 2020 T20 World Cup final. Harmanpreet Kaur, though, is excited about the chance to play the formidable Australians.

Harmanpreet continued, “I think Australia (who I look forward to facing) will be it because they are very competitive.”

India’s World Cup campaign begins on October 4th at Sylhet versus New Zealand. They will also have to deal with Bangladesh, the hosts, who will have a sizable fan base in their corner.

Since Bangladesh will be playing at home, they will be more familiar with the conditions than we are. They will have the backing of the crowd. Still, it’s always a thrilling experience to play against them. And maybe we’ll defeat them with ease,” Harmanpreet said.
