Recent information has revealed that Indian captain Rohit Sharma made an effort to convince former cricket player Rahul Dravid to stay on as Team India’s head coach after the T20 World Cup 2024.
While Rohit stated that he had tried to convince Dravid to continue in his position, he also noted that Dravid had other responsibilities in his life, mainly his family and other obligations. Referring to Dravid as a role model for himself and his contemporaries throughout their early years, Rohit made a reference to their 14-year age difference. He praised Dravid’s unwavering grit and commitment in his remarks, praising both his flawless and unwavering batting on the field as well as his composure in media interactions off the field. Following Dravid’s appointment as Team India’s head coach in November 2021, Rohit stated his intention to absorb and apply these traits.

Given their unexpected failure to win major trophies despite multiple bilateral series victories, Rohit was asked about his desire to win the T20 World Cup 2024 for the departing Dravid. He expressed his admiration for working with Dravid and expressed his hope to win the tournament, but he wavered halfway through, suggesting that they were reluctant to jeopardise their chances after narrowly missing out on winning the 50-over World Cup the previous year, which came after ten straight victories.
“I hope to continue working with him; it was amazing. “I have nothing more to say,” Rohit said.
