T20 World Cup 2024: AUS vs NAM – Who said What?

Namibia and Australia squared off in the twenty-fourth game of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Antigua. The 2021 winners chose to bowl first and easily defeated Namibia with a nine-wicket victory, scoring 72 runs in just 72 overs. With captain Gerhard Erasmus scoring the highest individual total of 36, Namibia’s batting display lacked any significant accomplishments.

Australia’s Adam Zampa stunned the opposition once more with his four-fer, as he suffocated them. Zampa took four wickets to totally demolish Erasmus and his team despite only conceding 12 runs in his four overs. The chase was completed in less than six overs, breaking several records, including to 20 off 8 from David Warner and 34 off 17 from Travis Head.

Australia qualifies for the Super 8

Australia’s convincing victory over Namibia has guaranteed them a spot in the T20 World Cup Super 8 phase, with one match remaining against Scotland. In preparation for the June 16 match, Australia may choose to rest a few players.

Adam Zampa once again excels

The Australian spinner Zampa maintained his excellent rhythm throughout the encounter with Namibia. He broke several records by taking four wickets in the match while only allowing 12 runs in his four overs allotted. One of Australia’s best white-ball spinners, Zampa is highly regarded.

Winning skipper, Mitchell Marsh said

I thought it was a great performance from the bowling team. Swing was around and all-round a professional performance. It’s really important and great to qualify for the super eights.. We will manage as many as we can over the next few days. [on Zampa] If you look at his career over the last 4-5 years, he ‘s probably our most important player.

He loves the pressure and he is bowling well at the moment and we are lucky to have him. [on how they are enjoying the off days in West Indies] Probably not as many beers as you had back in the day Haydos. Lots of beach days and it’s like being back in Perth, we are enjoying it.

Losing skipper, Gerhard Erasmus said

That you can’t sit back against the best in the world. The skill gap is there, we tried to close that by fighting fire with fire but we did not do that in this tournament so far. A good side like Australia with their skillset will expose you if you are not mentally there, the conditions were fair and unfortunately we did not play well enough according to the conditions.

Player of the match, Adam Zampa said

 It sounds fine, we qualify for the Super 8s, that’s a nice feeling. Enjoying bowling, being encouraged to take wickets by the captain, just trying to do my thing mate. We are happy (to qualify), first step in trying to take the trophy home, but long way to go.
