Sania Mirza, an Indian tennis player, and Mohammed Shami, an Indian cricket player, were rumoured to get married after their separate splits. Sania left on a Hajj pilgrimage in the middle of these circulating rumours, sharing on social media her desire for a deep spiritual experience.
These rumours first arose after Shami’s continuous separation from his wife Hasin Jahan and Sania’s split from former Pakistani cricket player Shoaib Malik earlier this year. Imran Mirza, Sania’s father, vehemently refuted the marriage rumours, notwithstanding the conjecture. Sania and Shami have never met, according to the mentor and coach of the best-achieving tennis player in India, who denied the rumours to NDTV.
All of this is garbage. Imran said to NDTV, “She hasn’t even met him.”
Social media users became aware of a photo that had been digitally manipulated and appeared to show Sania and Shami’s recent wedding. Using a cropped photo of Sania’s 2010 wedding to Malik, this Photoshopped image gave the impression that Shami and Sania were a married couple. This assertion was categorically denied by the fact-checking organisations. Misinformation circulated widely as a result of the viral photo, which swapped out Malik’s face for Shami’s in the original wedding picture.
Just over five months after her much-publicized breakup with Malik, Sania recently completed the Hajj journey, marking a significant life achievement. After shifting into a commentary role, Sania was most recently seen at the 2024 French Open in her capacity as a pundit. Sania expressed on social media how she hopes and prays for a life-changing experience on the Hajj in a heartfelt post.

Shami, meanwhile, has been battling serious personal issues of his own. Shami has continued to practise his profession with distinction even in the midst of a well-publicized legal battle with his divorced wife, Hasin Jahan, about charges that range from domestic abuse to match-fixing. His significant contributions were visible throughout India’s 2023 ODI World Cup campaign. However, he sustained a heel injury and is presently recovering, which has prevented him from playing for the Indian team in the current T20 World Cup 2024, which is being held in the USA and the West Indies.
