“Haven’t seen such a bad patch from Bangladesh batsmen in a decade,” said Taskin.

The vice captain of Bangladesh believes that their bowling performance during the T20 World Cup was encouraging.

"We understand your frustration," Taskin Ahmed says in public, acknowledging Bangladesh's errors during the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Vice captain Taskin Ahmed stated that Bangladesh’s unsuccessful T20 World Cup 2024 campaign was primarily due to poor batting form. He claimed that during Bangladesh’s 47-day trip to the Americas, nearly everything went as planned, with the exception of the batting.

Bangladesh’s hitting unit had the lowest collective average among the Super Eight teams in a challenging campaign for batters.

Litton Das scored the lone fifty for Bangladesh from those three places, meaning that none of the top three scorers gave them a start in any of their innings. Their finest batting effort came from Towhid Hridoy, who scored 153 runs at 128.57, but he was not given enough support in the middle order by Shakib (111 runs at 106.73 SR) and Mahmudullah (95 runs at 94.05 SR).

Following the arrival of the Bangladesh team on Friday morning, Taskin informed media at the Dhaka airport, “The seniors’ off-form had an effect on the team but not off the pitch.” “They make excellent teammates. As a group, we were there for 47 days. Off the pitch, everything was going well. It is common for a team to experience difficulties when key players are not performing at their best. I’m hoping we can bounce back from this and perform better very soon.”

Even after the batters arrived in the West Indies, Taskin claimed that he had never witnessed a Bangladeshi batting collapse of this length during his time playing for his country.

“When it comes to batting, based on the statistics, I believe that every [team’s] batting unit struggled this time around in the USA. Bowlers had plenty of assistance. In the West Indies, we had superior batting wickets.

“In my eleven years of playing for Bangladesh, I haven’t witnessed a dismal run of form for the hitters like this one. I’m hoping it passes soon.

“Our T20 team never had a lot of players. We’re making modest progress. We are already in the negative, therefore we can’t just focus on the negative. Our goal is to obtain a “plus.” It’s understandable that you’re frustrated. You’ll receive a nice win from us. You must continue to believe in us. We’ll put our all into it.”

Taskin was a part of Bangladesh’s impressive bowling performance. Even though he was recovering from an injury, legspinner Rishad Hossain and Tanzim Hasan topped the bowling charts; Rishad is still tied for third place among the leading wicket-takers in the event heading into the final. According to Taskin, it demonstrated that skilled cricket players are emerging from Bangladesh.

“Over the past few years, the bowling unit has performed admirably. We’ve exhibited consistency. It will continue to improve.

“Among the best wicket-takers in the tournament are Tanzim and Rishad. It’s a good thing. From Bangladesh, some of our future stars are coming. It asserts our capacity. Both the fans and us have been harmed by what has happened, particularly our inability to win several games,” he remarked.

Taskin expressed disappointment about the last game between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, citing in particular the fact that Bangladesh needed to chase down their target in 12.1 overs in order to advance to the semi-finals but was unable to do the task.

“There was much more we could have done. We were all a little let down by the last game. After realising that winning in 12 overs was unachievable, we attempted to win the game instead. We failed to win even then.

“The campaign has some advantages. Our bowlers performed admirably the entire competition. We earned a spot in the Super Eight. For the first time, we won three games in the T20 World Cup. Thus, there are advantages as well as disadvantages. Like the rest of you, we are disappointed. We fell short of what was expected of us.”
