July 03, 2024, National Day: With great pleasure, the Lanka Premier League 2024 announces the addition of Michael Clarke as its brand ambassador. The former Australian captain, who won the World Cup in 2015, will watch and commentate on the exciting action throughout the five-team competition, which takes place from July 1 to July 21, 2024.
Legends Vivian Richards, Wasim Akram, and Sanath Jayasuriya from past editions are among the esteemed group of LPL brand ambassadors that Clarke joins.
Clarke’s destiny was clear from the moment he made his debut against India in Bengaluru in 2004 and struck a magnificent century to win the match. During his illustrious almost ten-year international career, the man from New South Wales amassed 8643 runs in 115 Test matches—including 28 centuries—and 7981 runs in 245 One-Day Internationals. The crowning achievement of his career came when he guided his country to the 2015 World Cup trophy on home soil.

Clarke expressed his excitement at being back in the LPL and visiting Sri Lanka. Being in Sri Lanka for the LPL is a privilege, and I have many happy memories from my Under-19 World Cup tour, which was one of my first trips to Australia. I was a huge fan of it when I was a player, and now that I’m getting to represent the sport as a brand ambassador for an amazing competition, I’m looking forward to seeing some of the next generation of Sri Lankan cricketers. This competition holds great significance as it will foster the growth of Sri Lankan cricket,” said Clarke.
The official LPL rights holder, Innovative Production Group, founded and is led by Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, welcomed Michael Clarke to the league.
“We’re overjoyed to have Michael Clarke join us as our brand ambassador for LPL 2024,” he stated. Players and fans will surely be inspired by his extensive expertise, leadership qualities, and everlasting passion for the game. We anticipate that he will contribute to making this season one that will last a lifetime.
The playoffs will follow the five teams’ two matches, which will be played over three weeks of intense action in the LPL at three legendary locations in Colombo, Dambulla, and Kandy: the Colombo Strikers, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy.
