The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Europe Sub Regional Qualifier B, which will take place in Germany on Sunday, is the next qualification pathway event on the route to India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
Ten more European teams gathered in Duisburg on Friday, intent on securing a ticket in the Europe Qualifier for next year, following Italy’s victory at the Sub Regional Qualifier A last month.
Eight days of competition will see 24 matches played across two tournament grounds, the Gelsenkirchen Cricket Ground and the Krefeld Cricket Ground. Belgium, Croatia, Gibraltar, Jersey, Norway, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland will compete alongside the hosts.
According to the event’s format, there will be two groups of five in the first group stage. Before the playoff games on Sunday, July 14, there will be a round of round-robin games. The winner-take-all match between the top two clubs will determine who advances to the next stage of qualification.
The recently finished ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies left fans reeling, and the event in Germany looks to be just as exciting, with teams vying for the opportunity to play for the ultimate T20 cricket prize in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
All matches will be available for live viewing on ICC.tv for fans worldwide, and FanCode for Indian fans.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Qualifier B in Germany will cap off an incredible summer of men’s international cricket, said Andrew Wright, Regional Development Manager for ICC Europe.
The Deutscher Cricket Bund is thrilled to be given the chance to host an ICC event of this magnitude for the first time, following the completion of a fruitful Qualifier A in Rome last month. Ten teams are competing once more, and they are all focused on getting to the Europe Qualifier the following year, where they will be facing only India and Sri Lanka.
We hope everyone in the Nordrhein-Westfalen region enjoys the live action; if you’re from farther away, you can catch it all on ICC.tv. We hope you have fun with the cricket.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Sub Regional Qualifier B,” said Severin Weiss, President of the Deutscher Cricket Bund, and Chief Executive Dieter Voigt in a joint statement released before to the competition. Our hosting of this important competition in the towns of Krefeld, Duisburg, and Gelsenkirchen is a huge honour. The qualifier is an essential part of the World Cup journey and an indication of Europe’s growing passion and interest in cricket.
A large number of volunteers were necessary to make the tournament’s organisation possible, as it is not a simple undertaking. Thus, a particular gratitude is extended to all of the volunteers who have contributed countless hours of labour behind the scenes to make sure this competition goes off without a hitch.
They said, “We would also like to thank our sponsors, who with their dedication guarantee the economic foundation of this tournament, and the International Council of Chiefs for their support and trust in allowing us to host this significant event here in Germany.”
There will be 20 teams competing in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026: 12 automatic qualifiers and 8 teams who advance via regional pathway competitions.
The Super 8 qualifying teams from the just finished 2024 edition are included in the automatic qualifiers. They are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, South Africa, West Indies, and USA.
As the top three teams on the ICC Men’s T20I rankings chart as of June 30, Sri Lanka also automatically qualifies as the host nation, with Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan rounding out the squad.
This year, the region is hosting three events leading up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with the Europe Sub Regional Qualifier B being one of them. Germany’s victorious squad advances to the Europe Qualifier, where they will play Scotland, the Netherlands, Italy, and the Sub Regional Qualifier C winner later in the summer.
Later in 2024, subregional qualifiers will take place in other ICC regions, and in 2025, the corresponding regional finals will take place.
