Rinku Singh exclaimed, "God's plan," after his win of the "Best Fielder Medal" for the Zimbabwe series

India’s 4-1 T20I series win against Zimbabwe came to a spectacular finish as explosive batsman Rinku Singh was named the ‘Fielder of the Series’ medal winner following the game.

The event, which took place in the Indian dressing room, showcased the team’s dedication to excellence in every facet of the game, but especially in fielding.

In the T20I series that launched India’s post-Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma era, a subpar Indian team demonstrated its mettle against Zimbabwe. The fielding department was where the disparity in skill levels was most noticeable throughout the series.

The Indian team was always very good at ground fielding, catching, and run-outs; their opponents found it difficult to equal their high calibre.

Rinku was declared the champion by interim fielding coach Subhadeep Ghosh, who took into account his efforts in each of the five games. T Dilip, the former fielding coach who created this practice and emphasised the value of fielding in Indian cricket, opened the occasion with a video message.

“Boys, we have always placed a high value on fielding in Indian cricket and have set high standards for it over the years. In this regard, we ought to keep pushing for perfection. We all know that we have a custom known as the fielding medal. In the BCCI video, Dilip stated, “The medal is awarded to a player who significantly influences the game with their fielding.”

I had a great time playing with everyone of you: Rinku Singh

Ghosh commended the group’s effort as a whole. He commended the players for their efforts to concentrate more on fielding and underlined that having strong fielding abilities aids the team in winning games and larger competitions.

“Another successful fielding day. I believe that every single person made an amazing effort. I believe that throughout the past five months, we have encountered a variety of situations and difficulties. As I repeat all the time, catching is crucial. We did that today, Ghosh stated. If you take the catches, you can dominate and control the game.

Rinku received the medal from VVS Laxman, who served as the tour’s acting head coach. Known for his explosive hitting, the young athlete demonstrated his versatility during the series by grabbing six catches. Rinku left his mark on the pitch even though he didn’t get many shots at bat.

“I had a great time playing with all of you. It was my fourth or fifth series, so I was quite fond of it. To be really honest, I really enjoy both fielding and batting, but I prefer fielding. It’s really enjoyable. Running is a lot of fun. What else can I say, then? God’s Plan, Rinku chuckled.

The series ended at the Harare Sports Club, where India won the last Twenty20 International by a commanding 42 runs. The squad scored a respectable 167-6, while Rinku made a brief 11-run appearance. The Zimbabwean batting lineup was then completely destroyed by the Indian bowlers, who held them to 125 all out.
