On July 13, at Edgbaston, Birmingham, India Champions defeated Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) final. With five balls remaining, India, led by the captivating Yuvraj Singh, defeated their goal of 157 by five wickets.
The Indian captain highlighted his team’s tactical approach against Pakistan’s bowling assault and lauded their overall performance during the competition.
“Winning the game for India is our passion, and I don’t think there’s a better feeling than that. He remarked to Star Sports, “I guess you always say that it’s hard to come back on the pitch because it’s been so many years, but as I said, no better feeling.
“I thought Pakistan and Australia were two of the tournament’s best teams. To beat them, we had to play some pretty brilliant cricket, which we did. We also have to really strategize properly in order to beat Pakistan’s bowling attack,” he continued.
Legends of cricket from both countries rekindled their enthusiasm for the game throughout the match. After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first and amassed 156/6 in the 20 overs that were allocated to them.
In addition to Sohaib Maqsood and Kamran Akmal making significant contributions, Shoaib Malik scored 41. Anureet Singh, who led India’s bowling assault with figures of 3/43, held Pakistan’s hitters in check.
India’s chase got off to a shaky start as they lost Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa early on. But the tone for India’s victory was set by Ambati Rayudu’s brilliant 50 off 30 balls, which included five fours and two sixes.

Yusuf Pathan (34) and Gurkeerat Singh Mann (34) both made significant contributions, with Pathan’s explosive 30 runs in only 16 balls swinging the match decisively in India’s favour.

Irfan Pathan (5*) and captain Singh (15*) were at the crease in the final seconds of the match. Pathan was spotted tossing a boundary off the first ball of the last over to secure the victory. Singh discussed his thoughts on the game and winning it for India after it ended.
Along with complimenting the WCL organisers on a job well done, Yuvraj also mentioned the fantastic Birmingham crowd support.
“Excellent experience; I love Birmingham.” It’s an amazing audience. It seems like a perfect location. I would like to congratulate WCL on organising this competition. They put in a great deal of effort, and in my opinion, the India-Pakistan final could not have been better. I think everyone had a great time at the tournament, and it’s excellent for the league that we’re taking the trophy back with us,” he said in closing.
