The statistic "First ODI Hundred in 3 Years" has Rohit Sharma taking aim at the broadcaster who reported it

An irritated Rohit Sharma criticised the broadcaster for stating that his century in the third ODI against New Zealand was the first one he had scored in “three years.” The captain of the team pointed out that during that time period, he hardly played any matches that were 50 overs long for a variety of reasons.

On Tuesday, during the third one-day international match between India and New Zealand, the broadcaster displayed the statistic that it was the first century for the Indian captain since January of 2020. This occurred as Rohit pushed away to deep square to reach to his 30th ODI century. Despite the fact that the figure is accurate, Rohit Sharma was of the opinion that it did not accurately portray the situation.

“With regard to scoring my first century in three years, I’ve only played 12 (17) One-Day Internationals in that time. Following the game, Rohit Sharma commented to the reporters that three years seemed like a long time.

“You all ought to be aware of what’s taking place. He continued, “I know that it was displayed on broadcast, but kabhi kabhi woh cheez bhi dhyan dena chahiye, broadcaster ko bhi sahi cheez dikhana chahiye (the broadcasters should give the proper picture),” which means “every now and then, that picture should be corrected.”

Rohit Sharma, who smashed nine fours and six sixes in India’s 90-run triumph, was asked further by a journalist if it was the return of the “Hitman,” a nickname that has been used for him. In response, Rohit Sharma stated, “As I said, there were no matches in 2020.”

Everyone stayed inside because they were afraid of COVID-19. You need to put everything into perspective; we didn’t play many one-day internationals, and because I was injured, I only participated in two tests during that time.

The previous year, we participated in T20 cricket. And at the present, Suryakumar Yadav is unrivalled as a batsman in Twenty20 cricket. He is the best there is. He is the only one I know of who has scored two hundreds, and I don’t believe anyone else has.

Shardul Thakur’s second performance, during which he took multiple wickets, completely altered the course of the game. He began by dismissing Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham off consecutive balls, and then he took the wicket of Glenn Phillips in the over that followed.

“He has a knack for getting wickets for us when it is very necessary for him to do so.” This has been the case not only in one-day internationals but also in tests of the game. He plays an extremely important role in our overall standing as a squad.

“So, all I can say is that I really hope he keeps putting up performances like this, because it can only help the team, and it will give him the confidence that he needs to come in and take wickets.

“This guy is really astute, he has a lot of experience playing domestic cricket, and he knows what needs to be done.” He explained how Shardul, Hardik Pandya, and Virat Kohli had planned to get New Zealand’s captain, Tom Latham, out of the game.

“In this style, you need to use your skills, and it’s clear that Shardul has them in spades.

Today (Tuesday), he bowled a beautiful knuckle ball to Tom Latham, which Virat, Hardik, and Shardul excellently prepared in the middle.” Additionally, the captain was effusive in his admiration for the youthful Shubman Gill, who finished the series as the player with the most runs scored.

Because of the way he batted throughout the match, I don’t believe there is much more that needs to be said. He has a good understanding of his game, and he knows how to pace his innings. This is exactly what we need in order to score a lot of runs and keep the game going for a long time.

“A double hundred is not an easy feat, and the fact that you were able to achieve it demonstrates how difficult it was. The next greatest score in that game (the first ODI) was 34, which demonstrates that he is analytical and thoughtful.

He has reached a really mature level.” Despite India’s ascent to the top spot in the ODI rankings as a result of this victory, Rohit Sharma seemed unfazed by the achievement.

To tell you the truth, ranking and everything else is irrelevant. Just prior to this series, we were in fourth place. I don’t understand how we ended up in fourth place considering that I don’t believe we dropped a single series over the course of the previous season.

We don’t let ourselves get too caught up in it because our focus is on the major tournaments. We want to be prepared for anything that may come our way. Every single one of these series inspires confidence.
