ICC Men's Twenty20 International Cricketer of the Year 2022 Awarded to Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav, a prominent hitter for India, was honoured with the title of ICC T20I Men’s Cricketer of the Year on Wednesday.

In the shortest format of the game, Suryakumar Yadav had an outstanding year with the bat, shattering a number of records and establishing a benchmark that had never been seen before.

Suryakumar finished the year 2022 as the hitter with the most runs scored, with 1164 runs scored at an absurdly high strike rate of 187.43. He was only the second batter in history to score more than 1,000 runs in a single calendar year.

“The player who was awarded the title of ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year had one of the most successful years that any player in the history of the sport has ever had.

In this article, we will examine his outrageous 2022 and the outstanding performances that occurred throughout the year “according to a statement issued by the ICC.

He smashed two hundreds and nine half-centuries, making him an essential component of India’s Twenty20 International team.

“Throughout the course of the year, Yadav turned up a number of performances that particularly stood out. But maybe his best performance came in Nottingham against one of the best white-ball sides in recent history, England, when he made his first Twenty20 International hundred, a remarkable 117 off of 55 balls. This was perhaps his best performance “ICC stated their position in a statement.

During the course of the year, he struck an astounding 68 sixes, which is the most that any batter has ever achieved in the history of the game.

Tahlia McGrath, an all-rounder from Australia, was honoured as the Women’s ICC Twenty20 International Cricketer of the Year on Wednesday.

“Australia’s Tahlia McGrath saw off competition from Pakistan’s ever-reliable all-rounder Nida Dar and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine on her way to the coveted ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award,” said a statement from the International Cricket Council. “Dashing India opener Smriti Mandhana, Pakistan’s ever-reliable all-rounder Nida Dar, and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine were also in the running” (ICC).

Such was the meteoric rise the Australian all-rounder witnessed in the shortest format that McGrath was one of the nominees for the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year just a little over a year after making her T20I debut in October 2021. McGrath had only made her first T20I appearance in that month.

She is now the No. 1 batter in the world according to the ICC Women’s Twenty20 International rankings, and she won the women’s singles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

She opened the year with a remarkable demonstration of her all-round talent when she hit a scorching 91* off of only 49 balls against England and then backed it up with a three-wicket haul in the same match. This marked the beginning of the year.

Her exciting innings included a six and 13 fours, making it quite entertaining to watch.

Before then, she had also made a significant impact with the ball as she returned 3/26 from her four overs, bringing England’s total down to 169/4.

However, because of how fearlessly McGrath batted and how she attacked the bowling, the score seemed to be lower than it actually was, and she and the captain, Meg Lanning, were able to chase it down with 18 balls to spare.

She played in five matches during the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and scored a total of 128 runs, averaging 42.66 runs per game. As a result of her outstanding performance throughout the month of August of the previous year, she was selected as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for that month.

McGrath was able to cap off 2022 with style as well, delivering a string of amazing performances while on tour in India in the month of December.

During the trip, which consisted of five matches, she scored 146 runs over the course of five innings, averaging 48.66, with her highest score being a knock of 70* off 51 balls in the second Twenty20 International. She also recorded a wicket in the series by bowling in the last Twenty20 international match.

Tahlia scored 435 runs in 16 matches during the previous year, with an average of 62.14 runs per match. She had four half-centuries in 11 innings, and her best score was 91*. Additionally, she was successful in taking 13 wickets while averaging 12.84 runs per over, with an economy rate of 6.95 runs per over, and having the best bowling statistics of 3/13.
