Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, according to Robin Uthappa, remind him of the legendary opening pair of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. The most successful opening duo in the history of ODI cricket is Sourav and Sachin. Like the two past Indian cricket captains, Shubman and Yashasvi complement each other, according to Uthappa, who played international cricket alongside Sourav and Sachin.

Yashasvi has scored 1,028 and 723 runs in nine Tests and twenty-three Twenty20 Internationals thus far. In tests, he is averaging 68.53, while in T20Is, it is 36.15. When given the chance, Uthappa supported Yashasvi in securing his place in the ODI squad and gave an explanation of why he will find it simpler to score runs in the format.

“To be honest, I think that when he (Jaiswal) gets the chance to play ODI cricket, he would take advantage of it right away because, compared to Test and T20I cricket, ODI cricket will be much simpler for him. Uthappa said, “because he will think I have all the time in the world to score runs.”
