The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction saw a large number of players sold for astronomical amounts. Even though they were among the most seasoned players in the franchise league, certain players, nevertheless, failed to draw any offers.
A couple quick bowlers, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar (INR 10.75 crore) and Arshdeep Singh (INR 18 crore), sold for hefty sums of money at the blockbuster auction. Nevertheless, other seasoned pacers were not sold during the auction. Some of them include Umesh Yadav, a 37-year-old fast bowler from Vidarbha who was a member of the Gujarat Titans the previous season.
The fact that Umesh received no bidders infuriated Aakash Chopra,
A former cricket player and broadcaster for India, who believed that he should have been purchased at his base price at the very least.
Umesh Yadav was not chosen and no one called him. All of them play with him, are captains of several teams, and may have spoken to him, therefore it is likely that he is depressed. It aches after playing cricket for a long time and believing you have put in a lot of effort, so I can definitely feel the agony,” Chopra posted on his YouTube account.
While he does not claim that he should have been purchased for 15 crores, he does argue that someone ought to have done it for at least 1 to 1.5 crores. He hasn’t gone past his sell-by date. I so deeply feel sorry for Umesh Yadav since no one chose him and no one ever had a conversation with him. Chopra continued, “Open the lines of communication.”
When it comes to Umesh Yadav’s IPL performance, he has played 148 games for four different teams and claimed 144 wickets at an average of 29.97 and an economy rate of 8.49. He claimed eight wickets at an economy rate of 10.00 and an average of 26.25 in seven games during the previous season.
