Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player for India, made fun of Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI), for his inconsistent play in the 2025 Indian Premier League. This season, the highest-scoring player in IPL history has only managed 56 runs in five innings at an average of 11.20. Even in the most recent game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rohit scored 26 runs in 16 balls when MI was chasing a 162-run mark.
Despite having a lot of intention and hitting three sixes, the former MI captain was unable to capitalise on their powerplay start. MI is having a lot of trouble figuring out the best top order combination because of his erratic play. Although Ryan Rickelton has been wonderful, he did not receive the backing he had hoped for.
The way that Rohit Sharma went out on a full toss ball, which was unexpected for a player of his calibre, was explained by Aakash Chopra.
Another significant problem for the squad is that MI is becoming pretty uneasy in the batting lineup as a result of his poor play.
“A doubt arose once more in Mumbai’s batting. Is it true that Mumbai is a raja? It’s not occurring, but that is a major question. He hammered two fantastic sixes after taking a six off the edge. Before he got out to a full toss, everything seemed to be going smoothly. Although it has been many innings, if we look at it from the first game to this point, he is scoring a few more runs in each game. In his YouTube video, Aakash Chopra stated, “Rohit Sharma hasn’t batted the way you expect him to.”
However, Will Jacks’ all-around performance helped MI defeat SRH by four wickets in the most recent game. He scored 36 runs and took two wickets. MI took 18.1 overs to chase the score. They stand a solid chance of securing their postseason spot if they maintain their winning streak.
