In the 22nd game of the current fourth edition of the SA20, South Africa’s top T20 competition, the Pretoria Capitals soundly trounced MI Cape Town. Sherfane Rutherford’s scorching half-century helped the Capitals reach a difficult target of 186 runs after Cape Town captain Rashid Khan asked them to bat first. The Caribbean hitter maintained his purple patch in the tournament by smashing 53 off just 27 balls. Dewald Brevis made a significant contribution as well, scoring 34 off 19 balls. Kagiso Rabada was the best bowler for Cape Town, taking two wickets in four overs while giving up just 33 runs.
Cape Town’s response got off to a poor start when they lost their openers during the powerplay. After a valiant effort, Reeza Hendricks managed to stay undefeated at 68 from 50 balls. However, Rashid and company were limited to 132/7 in 20 overs, and he didn’t get much help from his teammates. At the end of the match, Gideon Peters had the best stats, scoring 3/32 in four overs.
