The Delhi Capitals, riding high on an all-around performance, defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets on Sunday in Visakhapatnam in their second IPL 2025 encounter.
The Delhi Capitals bowlers took wickets at regular intervals and eventually bowled out Sunrisers Hyderabad for 163 in 18.4 overs after the Sunrisers Hyderabad chose to play first. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets for the squad, while pacer Mitchell Starc had a fifer.
Later, the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling team was completely overrun by the hitters. Along with Jake Fraser-McGurk (38 off 32), wicket-keeper Abhishek Porel (34* off 18), KL Rahul (15 off 5), and Tristan Stubbs (21* off 14), Faf du Plessis scored a rapid half-century.
“It was a great team effort and everyone made the contributions,” Abhishek Porel stated in the post-match press conference, reflecting on the victory.
Faf (du Plessis) batted brilliantly after Mitchell Starc bowled brilliantly. He has been performing admirably for us. Tristan Stubbs later contributed effectively, and we won the game when Jake Fraser-McGurk took his time but pace his innings incredibly well.”
Porel discussed his experience playing for the new captain, Axar Patel, saying, “Axar is a very motivated guy on the pitch and a very funny guy off the pitch.” He has been doing a great job leading the team. The captaincy has been excellent overall.
The young player responded, “KL Rahul has always been an elder brother to me,” when questioned about his interactions with his teammate wicketkeeper-batter. When I missed the catch, he actually comforted me and urged me to concentrate on batting and using my strokes. He truly supported me.
The Delhi Capitals will play the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on April 5, 2025, following two straight victories.
