The largest cricket stadium in the world will be constructed in Amaravati by the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi arena has surpassed Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to become the biggest cricket arena in the world. The new stadium in Amaravati is reportedly expected to hold 1,25,000 people, surpassing the seating capacity of Narendra Modi Stadium, also called Motera Stadium.
The organization has asked the Andhra Pradesh government for 60 acres of the land, according to Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), the ACA President and Vijayawada MP. The construction of a 200-acre sports city in Amaravati is an even more grandiose project that includes this one. Additionally, Sivanath stated that ACA would look to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for financial support, with additional funds being gathered locally.
“This stadium will not only revolutionize cricket infrastructure in the country but also put Amaravati on the global sporting map,” Chinni stated, according to the Times of India.”
ACA has big expectations for state talent in the future.
Modern cricket academies are also being planned by ACA in Rayalaseema, Vijayawada, and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, the association has stated that it intends to bid for the 2029 National Games, which will increase Andhra Pradesh’s prominence in the growth of Indian sports. Former cricket player Robin Singh and former India Women’s cricketer Mithali Raj will be brought in to run the academies and develop the next generation of players.
In addition to infrastructure, Sivanath has set a target for Andhra Pradesh’s young potential. In the next two years, the association hopes to see at least 15 players from the state sign contracts with the Indian Premier League, he continued.
