After his stint against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 50th IPL 2025 match, former Australia great Adam Gilchrist gave Jasprit Bumrah a heartfelt tribute. Bumrah, according to the former wicketkeeper-batter, is the best fast bowler of all time. In his opinion, the right-arm bowler is one of cricket’s greatest players in terms of skill execution.
When comparing their numbers to those of their peers, the former IPL champion captain asserted that Bumrah could be compared to Sir Donald Bradman. The former IPL player believed that, like Bradman in his day, Bumrah is just too far ahead of everyone in his generation.
“He is arguably the greatest fast bowler of all time. After the MI vs. RR game, Gilchrist was quoted by as stating, “When you start stacking up the statistics and the different conditions that he has to go out and execute those skills in, I guess you look at Sir Donald Bradman’s numbers compared to his peers, and he’s just so far ahead.”
“He’s much ahead of his peers,” said Adam Gilchrist of Jasprit Bumrah.
The former Australian captain went on to say that Bumrah is unique and can perform well on any surface and in any kind of weather. He ended by stating that even opposition supporters enjoy seeing the right-arm pacer bowl since he is considerably superior than others in his era.
“So I think Bumrah is sort of in that category across all the different variations that you get in conditions and pitches that you’ve got to bowl on. He’s significantly further ahead than the peers around him, so that tells you we are truly watching greatness,” Gilchrist added on the show.
The MI pacer bowled a brilliant spell in the match against RR. In his four overs, the star pacer claimed two wickets and conceded just 15 runs, including 15 dot balls. Bumrah picked up back-to-back wickets and nearly sealed the game for MI after Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar inflicted the early damage with the new ball.
