Noor Ahmad, who was absent from the three-match ODI series against South Africa, has been included in Afghanistan’s 19-man squad for the series against Bangladesh, which will take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates from November 6–11.
Ibrahim Zadran, Afghanistan’s prolific top-order batsman, will continue to be absent as he recovers from recent ankle surgery in England. Additionally, Afghan batsman Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is still healing from a sprain to his right phalanx, will not be in the lineup.
With six T20I caps, Sediqullah Atal is a talented left-hand top-order batsman who has been called up to replace Ibrahim Zadran, who is injured. With his impressive domestic season exploits, Atal is presently atop the batting standings in the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.
The remainder of the team that assisted Afghanistan in defeating South Africa 2-1 in the ODI series in Sharjah last month is still in place.
“Especially in white-ball cricket, the year 2024 has been exciting and productive for the ACB and the AfghanAtalan squad. We have made playing ODI cricket a high priority since it helps us get the team ready for the ICC Champions Trophy’, ACB CEO Naseeb Khan stated in a statement.
The experience of playing against Bangladesh has always been both joyful and challenging. The guys chosen for this series, in my opinion, will play incredibly well and bring greater honour to our country,” he continued.
“Ibrahim Zadran is presently undergoing rehabilitation and is still recuperating from the surgery he recently underwent,” noted ACB Chief Selector Mr. Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil. Because of his continued medical care, Mujeeb Ur Rahman is also still unavailable.
