After dismissing Mohammad Naeem of Lahore Qalandars in Match No. 4 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in Rawalpindi on Sunday, April 13, Abrar Ahmed, Pakistan’s mystery spinner, decided not to do his customary farewell celebration. Rather than making his customary animated gesture, Abrar simply joined his teammates for a high-five, grinned, and raised his hand as though to stop himself.
This response occurred when Abrar Ahmed hit Mohammad Naeem with a slower ball that rattled into the stumps in the third over of the Qalandars’ batting.
Naeem retreated and attempted to cut, but the delivery outwitted him, causing him to top-edge the ball into the stumps. Many in the audience awaited his signature celebration, but Abrar held back.

When Abrar dismissed Indian player Shubman Gill at the recent Champions Trophy, he received harsh criticism for his combative dismissal.
Gill was duped by the leg-spinner in the match in Dubai when he hit the bat with a carrom ball that smashed into the stumps. The bowler’s farewell gesture for Gill was criticised by both cricket fans and past players, even though Virat Kohli stopped in the middle of innings to praise Abrar’s genius.
Abrar concluded with stats of 2 for 33 in his four overs in the current PSL match, taking another vital wicket, this time of Daryl Mitchell. Despite appearing to be 37, the Kiwi was defeated in the flight after coming down the course. Kusal Mendis, a batsman and wicketkeeper, performed admirably by finishing a crisp stumping. Having gone through the Peshawar Zalmi lineup with a 4 for 42 record in the Quetta Gladiators’ season opener, the 26-year-old was coming into this match fired up.
