The 2025 SA20 will feature a large number of both domestic and international cricket players. The tournament is more well-known because several of them have been producing results on the world circuit for a long time. One of them is Aiden Markram, the captain of South Africa in the Twenty20 Internationals.
In a recent conversation, former Proteas great and SA20 ambassador Jacques Kallis discussed Aiden Markram Sunrisers Eastern Cape team’s
Chances of winning their third consecutive championship and why he believed they had what it takes to reach the milestone.
“It will be difficult. Everyone wants to remove the cap off your head after you’ve won the title once, I guess. It took a lot of work, but they were able to protect it again. Because everyone is now genuinely after you, it would be even more difficult to accomplish it a third time. Nevertheless, I believe they have the team to succeed. They have a cool coach that has bonded well with the team, and they have done an excellent job of planning. Can they win it a third time then? Yes, I think they can. Kallis told Star Sports, “It will be interesting to watch how they go about it.
I wouldn’t be shocked if he hosted a top-tier tournament: I, Jacques Kallis
The former all-rounder also expressed his opinions about Markram, who has recently been going through a difficult time. Markram’s contribution to the Sunrisers’ unit thrilled Kallis, who showed faith in him. Interestingly, in the ten games he has played for South Africa in the past (six T20Is and four Test matches), Markram has only scored two half-centuries.
“I don’t think his captaincy will be impacted by his present performance. It could even inspire him to return to form and have a fantastic season. He will wish to participate and has a strong character. He’ll undoubtedly want to take the lead because, as a player, you’re always trying to improve on the previous season. It wouldn’t surprise me if he had a world-class tournament and was instrumental in helping his side advance to the later stages of the competition. I’m interested to see how he approaches it,” Kallis continued.
