After the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost their openers within the first three overs of their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday, April 3, in the ongoing Match 15 of the 2025 Indian Premier League, Ajinkya Rahane has adopted a counterattacking style of cricket.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 second match will take place in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. After winning the toss, Pat Cummins asked the home team to bat first. In the second over, the Sunrisers captain got rid of Quinton de Kock, giving his team the first breakthrough. Sunil Narine was bowled out in the next over by Mohammed Shami’s strike.
When Angkrish Raghuvanshi teamed up with captain Ajinkya Rahane,
The reigning champs were in trouble at 16/2. However, by using some wild strokes during the powerplay, the two Mumbai batters prevented the SRH bowlers from applying any further pressure on them. In the fourth over, Rahane set the tone by hitting his opposite number for a six over square leg.
But the right-handed batter took advantage of Shami’s pace in the next over and smashed an even greater shot. Rahane got inside the line and lapped the previous IPL Purple Cap winner for a maximum over backward square leg off the fourth ball of the fifth over. The two early wickets startled the KKR camp, but the pick-up shot made them smile again.

The third wicket was reached as Rahane and Raghuvanshi combined for 81 runs off 51 deliveries. Zeeshan Ansari, a young leg-spinner, ended the partnership when Rahane was caught by Heinrich Klaasen in the eleventh over. With players like Andre Russell and Rinku Singh in the dugout, KKR has amassed 97 runs in the first 11 overs, and the hosts are hoping for a good innings finale.
