Veteran Indian hitter Ajinkya Rahane was disqualified in the first inning of the present Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Assam for impeding the field, setting up a contentious moment.
Rahane struck a straight drive on the final delivery before tea and decided to take a single. But Shivam Dube sent him back, and when he returned to the attack, he blocked Denish Das, the midfielder, from making a throw, and he was substituted out for blocking the field.
Ajinkya Rahane was summoned up to the crease after scoring 18 runs in 52 deliveries;
however, Assam eventually dropped their petition in a display of exemplary sportsmanship. After being given another opportunity, the veteran batter was dismissed after scoring 22 runs in 69 deliveries, demonstrating his inability to have any more influence on the match.
