[WATCH] ENG vs IND 2025: Akash Deep’s fiery celebration ends in friendly send-off to Ben Duckett

On Day 2 of the fifth and final Test at The Oval, India’s bowler Akash Deep broke through England’s sturdy opening stand, dismissing the dangerous Ben Duckett. India had a disappointing start to Day 2, losing their last four wickets for only six runs and falling from 218/6 to 224 all out. Gus Atkinson led the English attack with a superb 5 for 33, while Josh Tongue removed Karun Nair and helped tidy up the tail.

In response, England openers Zak Crawley and Duckett played a counter-attacking innings. Both bats combined for a 92-run opening stand in just 12.5 overs, scoring at nearly seven runs per over. Duckett appeared to be at his aggressive best as he eased towards discovering boundaries.

However, Deep discovered the breakthrough. In the 13th over, he delivered a full delivery on off-stump, which Duckett attempted to reverse-scoop and got an edge that went straight to keeper Dhruv Jurel. Deep responded with an enthusiastic celebration, pumping his fist right in front of Duckett, before walking up and placing his arm around the southpaw’s shoulder and exchanging a few words.

KL Rahul pulled Akash Deep back to prevent an escalation.

The umpire, Ahsan Raza, spoke briefly with the bowler following the incident. Meanwhile, Duckett returned after scoring 43 off 38 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes.
