[WATCH] IPL 2025: Akash Singh brings Digvesh Rathi-inspired celebration after dismissing Jos Buttler

Akash Singh, a left-arm pacer, dismissed Jos Buttler with a stunning slower ball in Match 64 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

He had left the pitch briefly earlier due to a right hand injury, but he made a good recovery. On the third delivery of the tenth over, he delivered a deceptively slow inswinger from wide of the crease. The ball spun inward and slid past Buttler’s shot, crashing into the stumps.

The pacer celebrated the dismissal in style, bringing out his partner Digvesh Rathi’s signature and signing off the notebook motion while smiling at the bench.

However, Akash performed the celebration clearly and calmly in comparison to Rathi’s prior celebrations, which cost him fines, demerit points, and a one-match suspension following the most recent offence in the previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Buttler’s wicket was GT’s early loss of three wickets in an innings this season.

Earlier in the contest, LSG produced a massive total of 235 in 20 overs, thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s searing knock. The Australian all-rounder scored 117 runs off 68 balls, including 10 fours and eight sixes. He was ably assisted by Nicholas Pooran, who scored 56 off 27 deliveries to give LSG a solid start.

GT has already secured a playoff position and now leads the table with 18 points. A victory in this match will strengthen their position and give them a chance to finish in the top two. Meanwhile, LSG has already been eliminated from postseason contention and is presently ranked sixth with five wins.
