On Sunday, Team India achieved a new milestone by becoming the first team to win a one-day international match by such a large margin. They did this by registering a tremendous victory over Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI match, which they won by 317 runs. The team captained by Rohit Sharma also dominated in the one-day international series, winning all three games to get off to a strong start in their preparations for the 2018 World Cup.
After Team India had posted a score of 390/5, thanks to the top performances from Virat Kohli (166*) and Shubman Gill (116), Sri Lanka was bowled out for a paltry total of 73 runs after Mohammed Siraj grabbed a four-wicket haul. This allowed Team India to win the match.
Aside from all of this, one item that will undoubtedly stick in the memories of the fans and the players is Kuldeep Yadav sensational dismissal of the visitors’ skipper Dasun Shanaka.
Shanaka was absolutely taken aback when Kuldeep bowled a spinning delivery to him in the 15th over of Sri Lanka’s chase. The ball evaded the bat and shook the middle stump as it passed through the hitting zone. Shanaka, who appeared shocked, walked off the field after scoring 11 runs.
India demolished a naive Sri Lanka with a record 317-run triumph in the third One-Day International to sweep the series in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Coming into the match, Virat Kohli lit up the dead rubber with an amazing 166 not out. This was his third century in four innings.
Before Kohli (166 not out off 110) powered India to a daunting 390 for five with his 74th international hundred and 46th in the 50-over format, Skipper Rohit Sharma (42 off 49) and Shubman Gill (116 off 97) exchanged a smooth 95-run opening stand.
Mohammad Siraj’s high-quality quick bowling was enough to take down Sri Lanka, and he did it within the first ten overs of the match. This effectively ended the match and eliminated the competition.
The gap between the two teams was highlighted by the fact that Sri Lanka was bowled out for a paltry 73 runs in 22 overs.
