Ambati Rayudu, a wicketkeeper-batter, gained notoriety mostly through his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He joined the teams that won the championship in 2013, 2015, and 2017 after starting his career with the Mumbai Indians. In 2018, Rayudu focused on the Chennai Super Kings, and he won the championship with them in the inaugural season. Since then, he has cultivated a close relationship with the CSK team and has publicly supported them even after retiring.
Rayudu was providing on-air commentary during the last stages of the IPL 2024 league stage match between Chennai and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in which the team captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad lost a game-or-die match in the final over. Rayudu was devastated by the loss, and his photos of himself crying uncontrollably became popular online.
Since then, RCB supporters have frequently attacked the former CSK player on social media, and he has publicly said that he dislikes the Bengaluru team. It appears that Rayudu’s supporters have begun to retaliate against him in a recent instance. In response, the former Indian cricket player posted on the microblogging site ‘X,’ which was formerly known as Twitter.
“Instead of spending money on paid PR and paid comments to control the narrative, focus internally and on cricket, you might just come close to winning,” Rayudu wrote in his post. Rayudu thinks the remarks are from trolls who are paid to promote hate.

Speaking of CSK, the team’s opening matchup in the forthcoming IPL 2025 will be against MI. Their home field, Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, will host the match on Sunday, March 23. On March 28 at the same location, they will play their next match against bitter rivals RCB. By defeating Bengaluru this time, the Chennai-based team hopes to exact retribution for their defeat.
