The former fast bowler for Pakistan, Muhammad Amir, has stated that he hopes to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he is eligible in 2026. “A UK passport would open doors and opportunities for me to play in the lucrative league,” Amir said.
Amir, who is retired from playing cricket internationally, talked about the potential consequences of playing in the IPL in Pakistan.
By the next year, I will be able to participate in the IPL. Why not, if given the chance? According to Amir on the show Haarna Mana Hai, “I will play in the IPL.”
He went on to say, “Some of our former players were doing commentary and coaching franchises, even though Pakistani cricketers were not permitted to play in the IPL.”
Ramiz Raja, a league pundit, and Wasim Akram, a former coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), caught Amir’s attention.
The left-arm bowler also talked about how much he loves Indian batting legend Virat Kohli, recalling a memorable occasion in 2016 when Kohli gave him a bat just before the T20 World Cup game in Kolkata.
Virtut is a superb player who appreciates skill. When he handed me his bat, I was overcome with emotion. Although he respects my bowling, I have always appreciated his batting. Using that bat, I made some nice knocks,” Amir said.
Additionally, Amir expressed his desire to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League. This assertion was supported by his colleague guest Ahmed Shehzad, who suggested that Amir might be the final component needed for RCB’s perplexing title chase.
For their bowling problems to be resolved, RCB needs a bowler like Amir. Bowling has been a problem, but their batting has always been good. The title will be won by them if Amir joins them,” Shehzad declared.
On March 22 at Eden Gardens, the season’s first day, RCB takes on KKR to start their IPL 2025 campaign.
