In the current IPL 2023, Amit Mishra is enjoying a fantastic season. He has taken seven wickets in seven games at an average of 21.28 and an economy of 7.84. During the current match between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad (Match 58), the 40-year-old bowled a stint of 1/40 in four overs. The team captained by Aiden Markram got off to a strong start after deciding to bat first, as they were 73/2 after eight overs.
When Amit Mishra entered the game to bowl the ninth over of the inning, Markram struck him for six on the first pitch.
The wristspinner caught and bowled Anmolpreet Singh (36 off 27) on the fifth ball of the over, capping off an amazing recovery. The ball was sent directly to Mishra as he came down the pitch by the right-handed hitter, who took a good catch with his right to claim his first wicket of the game.
After making the catch, the 40-year-old veteran was fired up and hurled the ball in rage while giving the batter the death gaze.
Returning to the game, SRH lost their way in the middle overs after Anmolpreet Singh gave his team a strong start, as Krunal Pandya claimed back-to-back wickets in the 13th over. Pandya first got rid of captain Markram (28 off 20), who was stumped after being beaten by a sharply turning pitch.
SRH scored 182/6 in the opening frame.
On the second delivery, the left-arm spinner further shattered Glenn Phillips’ stumps by beating him up with a crisp turner. Heinrich Klaasen (47 off 29) and Abdul Samad (37* off 25), who were both dismissed, put up a 58-run partnership off 40 balls to help their team out of trouble. After 20 overs, SRH had completed their innings at 182/6 thanks to their cooperation.
Yudhvir Singh (1/24, 3 overs), Avesh Khan (1/30, 2 overs), Yash Thakur (1/28), Amit Mishra (1/40), and Krunal Pandya (2/24) each took one wicket for their respective teams.
