No other franchise or even my country has ever made such a significant investment in me. Andre Russell discusses his connection with KKR in an open interview.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are closely associated with the name Andre Russell. In exchange, the KKR management has always taken excellent care of the all-rounder whenever he has been injured. Over the years, the all-rounder has played a crucial part in helping the team win numerous games on his own terms.

Notably, the Knight Riders took care of his medical needs when he was dealing with a knee injury, and ever since then, he has developed a special bond with the two-time champions.

Andre Russell recalled everything and said that no other team, not even the West Indies, had ever done as much for him.

Additionally, he stated that he has no plans to leave KKR because of the strong bonds he has forged with every member of the group, particularly with KKR CEO Venky Mysore.

“Where I was, KKR actually made things happen for me when they sent me to receive proper therapy on my knees a few years ago. To be really honest, that means a lot to me. No other business or even my nation has ever invested that much in me.

“I’m content here. Since I’ve been here for about 9 years, I can’t think of any other franchise in this tournament that I would love to play for. Since I’ve been here for so long, I’ve met these guys and have grown closer to them each year. I continue to communicate with Mr. Venky (Mysore) even when there is no cricket. Andre Russell told Star Sports, “I genuinely respect him and I look up to him.

The star all-rounder is having trouble getting going in the current season of IPL 2023. He has played eight games and only managed to score 108 runs while taking five wickets. The 35-year-old will need to play his best cricket at the crunch time of the tournament if KKR hopes to make the playoffs.
