Andy Flower was fired by the Lucknow Super Giants, and Justin Langer was named as the team’s new head coach.
The popularity of the former has not, however, diminished as the Rajasthan Royals appear eager to include him into their lineup. Notably, Rajasthan’s director of cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, is expected to keep his job and has stated that the team wants to name Flower the team’s new head coach.
More teams are reportedly interested in hiring Flower, as Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad are reportedly seeking for new coaches and are likely to have Flower on their radar. Notably, RCB under Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar failed to find success in the previous four years, which is why the team management is eager to hire new personnel.
Hyderabad, on the other hand, came in last place in the IPL 2023, and they are under a ton of pressure to rediscover who they are. During the previous competition, Hyderabad released many of its great cricketers and replaced them with a large number of fresh faces. But despite Brian Lara, the head coach, taking a lot of fire, the players did not rise to the occasion.
Umran Malik, who didn’t play much for the playing XI last year, was another difficulty for the coaching staff. The team management prefers to bring in a new player, thus Flower is one of their alternatives. Despite the fact that neither Lara nor the team have verified any new information, a Cricbuzz article claims that the team administration is looking for a new coach since they do not like the former cricketer’s coaching philosophy.
Regarding RCB, they have not yet made any steps to re-sign them as of yet. Their contracts with Hesson and Bangar expire on August 31 and December 31, respectively.
