In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024, Punjab’s top-order batsman Anmolpreet Singh recently achieved the third-fastest List A century, making history. At number three on the all-time list, he finished his tonne in just 35 deliveries. He has only AB de Villiers (31) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (29 balls) ahead of him.
At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Anmolpreet Singh stepped out to bat at number three against Arunachal Pradesh.
With eight sixes and eleven fours, he reached his tonne. In 45 deliveries, he scored 115* runs, which enabled his team to successfully pursue down the target.
Noteworthy is the fact that, aside from Anmolpreet, AB de Villiers set a new record for the fastest List A century in January 2015 when he struck 149 in 44 balls for South Africa against the West Indies in Johannesburg. In relation to Anmolpreet Singh, the batter has received much-needed recognition. He did not sell at the most recent auction despite playing for the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and putting up some strong performances.
