Anrich Nortje, an express pacer for the Delhi Capitals (DC), has returned to South Africa due to a personal issue in advance of the match on Saturday, May 6. The team announced the pacer’s brief departure from the current IPL in 2023 on their social media accounts.
According to recent circumstances, Nortje won’t play in the upcoming match against RCB, which is set for Saturday, May 6. When asked when the pacer would be available for the remaining matches, DC gave an official update, citing an emergency.
Anrich Nortje, a fast bowler with the Delhi Capitals, had to leave for South Africa late on Friday night due to a personal situation. He will be unable to participate in this evening’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, DC tweeted.
Anrich Nortje has taken seven wickets in the eight league games played, with his best spell coming at 2/20. Notably, the second match of Saturday’s doubleheader will pit DC against RCB at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
DC is all but out of the postseason chase.
With just three victories in their first nine games, DC is languishing at the bottom of the IPL Points Table with a pitiful Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.768. Although they have a remote possibility of making the top four, they will be eliminated from the playoffs if they lose any of the following games.
David Warner and company started their campaign with five straight defeats. Delhi, though, has recovered with three victories in their previous four games and will want to maintain their momentum.
RCB has a huge advantage against Delhi based on their five head-to-head records, winning four of the five meetings to Delhi’s one victory. After their initial setback on April 15, Warner and Co. will try to avoid suffering a second straight loss to RCB in the current edition.
