Anshul Kamboj spoke out after earning his international debut in the fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series between England and India. His first ten overs of his debut gave 48 runs and a wicket. Kamboj was honest about his performance and appeared determined to improve on the third day.
“I felt good after taking my first wicket in international cricket. I was intent on hitting the proper targets from the start. Some packages landed successfully, while others did not. To be honest, I’m still not completely satisfied with my bowling performance. “I’ll look to improve and do better tomorrow,” Kamboj told Star Sports.
He also discussed his and the Indian bowlers’ bowling strategy for Day 3.
“I tried harder throughout my first two spells. During the third phase, I concentrated on supporting my strengths and keeping to my areas. Tomorrow (July 25), we’ll try to bowl in nice spots again and discard them as quickly as possible. The idea will be to set boundaries because they appear to be more concerned with hitting fours than taking singles,” noted Kamboj.
Anshul Kamboj claimed that he has learnt a lot from the frontline pacers in his short stint with the team.
“I learn a lot from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj by observing their actions in various situations and knowing what needs to be done. We continuously communicate with each other, and it’s all about reacting to the conditions and match scenario,” the debutant said.
India picked up only two wickets on the second day’s play in the 46 overs they bowled to the hosts. Kamboj’s wicket of Ben Duckett (94 off 100) was a big one. Ravindra Jadeja secured the wicket of Duckett’s opening partner.
